Privacy Policy

Effective

The short version

You do not need an account to use anything on DoUnscrambler. We do not ask for your name, email or payment details to unscramble a word. We keep aggregate usage statistics and we serve third-party advertising, and that is the whole of it.

What we collect

  • Letter sets you submit. Processed to return your word list. We store anonymous aggregate counts of which pages are viewed so we know which tools to improve; these counts are not linked to you.
  • Standard server logs. IP address, user agent, referring URL and timestamp, retained for a short period for security, abuse prevention and debugging.
  • Advertising and analytics cookies. Set by third parties, not by us.

We do not collect special-category personal data, and we do not sell personal information.

Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working and cannot be switched off. Advertising and measurement cookies are set by our advertising partners, who may use them to show ads relevant to your interests across sites. Where consent is legally required, ads are not personalised until you give it, and you can change your choice at any time through the consent control in the footer.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The tools will continue to work.

Third parties

Advertising partners and, where enabled, privacy-respecting analytics may process limited data such as your IP address and device type in order to deliver and measure ads. Each operates under its own privacy policy. We do not pass them the letter sets you enter.

Legal basis (UK / EU)

  • Legitimate interests — security logging, abuse prevention, aggregate usage statistics.
  • Consent — personalised advertising and non-essential cookies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents may opt out of the sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. Exercise any of these by emailing hello@dounscrambler.com; we respond within the statutory period.

Retention

Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and debugging. Aggregate, non-identifying usage counts may be kept indefinitely because they cannot be traced back to a person.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

Material changes are announced by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Questions go to hello@dounscrambler.com, or see the terms of use.
